Crowe sidelined at Donington

Jeremy Crowe’s weekend at the Donington round of the World Supersport Championship came to a premature end after the talented factory pilot crashed out in practice, re-injuring a badly sprained ankle.

Crowe had received a last minute call to ride the Team Yamaha Spain R6 in only his second international race, and had entered the event confident on improving on his previous best, a 15th place finish on the same bike back in June.

A high-side crash put pay to the Condobolin-based rider’s weekend, with the initial diagnosis of a slight fracture to his left ankle.

He attempted to continue but could not set a consistent pace through the pain.

FIM officials cleared him to ride but, with the support of the crew at Team Yamaha Spain, Crowe elected to sit out the event to concentrate on his next outing on the WSS Calendar.

“It was a disappointing weekend and unfortunate that the pain was so great otherwise I could have ridden through the discomfort,” said Crowe.

“I had to weigh up the options and would much rather return at the end of the month to race at Vallelunga at full fitness rather than have risked further injury during the race.”

“It’s not the outcome I’d imagined but motorsport has its highs and lows and I’m looking forward to bouncing back really strongly next round.”

Crowe will race at Vallelunga on September 21 before returning to contest the final round of the Australian Supersport Championship at Eastern Creek on 19 October.
